Parent Nominations to the Board of Management
The current Board of Drogheda Educate Together Secondary School is coming to the end of its term of office and a new Board will commence on16th October 2022 for three years.
The Board of Management of a Voluntary Secondary School is charged with managing the school on behalf of the Trustees. The Board comprises eight members four nominated by the Trustees, two elected by the parents/guardians and two elected by the teaching staff.
All school policy in relation to Enrolment, Finance, Employment, Pastoral Care, Discipline, Planning and Policy Formation is set by the Board. The role of the Board is pivotal to the running of the school and parent representation is a core part of this. The role of parents on the Board is vital and the election of parent nominees should be given serious consideration.
The Nomination Form for Parents Nominees on the new Board should be downloaded here and a hard copy returned to the school office marked to the Secretary of the Board of Management by 19th of September.[1]
To be eligible a person must be a parent/legal guardian of a student enrolled for the year 2022/2023. Please ensure that any parent you are nominating is willing to serve and is prepared to serve for the required three years. Training will be provided for new board members, usually held in Liffey Valley over a weekend in late October/early November.
Following nominations Parents nominated will be asked to prepare a short bio for the ballot papers and all parents/guardians will be issued with a Ballot Paper of all nominees and asked to vote for your preferred choice. The top two, one male and one female[2] will take their place on the Board of Management after October 16th 2022. Should there be a tie in this election lots will be drawn.
